Samsung Galaxy A10e Review

The Samsung Galaxy A10e ($179.99) appears to be a triumph in terms of design. It’s a compact, attractive phone that feels comfortable in the hand. A phone, on the other hand, cannot succeed just on the basis of its appearance. And the A10e leaves a much to be desired, from its sluggish performance to its poor media features. For the same price, theMotorola Moto G7 Powerprovides superior hardware, resulting in a more enjoyable experience overall.

Design, Display, and Durability

The Samsung Galaxy A10e is a straightforward device that is also visually appealing. With dimensions of 5.8 by 2.7 by 0.3 inches (HWD) and a weight of 5.0 ounces, it is compact, lightweight, and easy to hold. The front of the phone has a teardrop notch for the camera and a hefty bottom bezel, but the proportions are good and it doesn’t appear cheap. The 5.8-inch LCD display on the front of the phone takes up most of the space. The screen has a resolution of 1,560 by 720 pixels, resulting in a decent density of 296 pixels per inch.

  1. This year, our experts have evaluated 67 different products in the mobile phone category.
  2. (See how we do our tests.) The rear of the case is made of a shiny blue polycarbonate material.
  3. The top of the device is devoid of any ports, whilst the bottom is equipped with a headphone jack, a USB-C connector, and a speaker.
  4. Once pushed, both are easily reached by even little hands and provide a gratifying click when activated.

Small drops are unlikely to cause damage to the phone’s plastic back; nevertheless, it’s doubtful that the display will be damaged at all. A protective case will be required as there is no waterproofing or splash protection on the device.

Audio, Call, and Network Quality

It is possible to purchase the Galaxy A10e unlocked and through any of the main wireless carriers. The unlocked version is compatible with LTE bands 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/13/14/17/20/25/26/28/29/30/66/71. The unlocked version is compatible with LTE bands 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/13/14/17/20/25/26/28/29/30/66/71. In our tests, network speeds on Cricket (which uses AT T’s network) were extremely slow. Over the course of a dozen tests, the phone continuously averaged speeds of only 4.84Mbps down and 1.61Mbps up, with no noticeable fluctuations in performance.

  • The maximum loudness of the earpiece is 84dB, which is high enough to be heard on crowded streets.
  • The noise suppression worked successfully in most situations, however on a few calls, certain construction sounds were able to make their way through.
  • There is considerable static and distortion when the volume is turned up to 11.
  • The phone also has dual-band Wi-Fi, although it does not enable NFC.

Cameras

The Galaxy A10e is equipped with a single 8MP rear camera with an aperture of f/1.9. A 5MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture is located on the front of the device. When there is plenty of light, the back camera performs admirably. Our daytime test images had good depth of field and color accuracy, and we were pleased with the results. Many photos had some loss of fine detail, but not enough to detract from the overall quality of the image. Low-light images, on the other hand, were generally awful.

When there is plenty of natural light, the selfie camera performs admirably.

Despite the fact that the front-facing camera features beauty and color filters, there is no portrait mode on the device.

For the most part, they were all characterized by substantial noise, a flat appearance, and a high degree of blurriness.

Performance

The Samsung Galaxy A10e is equipped with a Qualcomm Exynos 7884 CPU and 2GB of RAM. There is 32GB of storage available, with just 16GB of it being available out of the box on our Cricket review device. A microSD card, on the other hand, allows you to expand your storage capacity by up to 512GB in total. The A10e may be a painfully sluggish computer at times. A substantial latency can be observed between the opening of apps and the transition between screen transitions. Moreover, as you begin to multitask, these problems become even more apparent.

  • In addition, this is not an excellent phone for gaming, as you can probably guess.
  • The game crashed twice in the course of a half hour of playtime.
  • This is a long cry from the score of the similarly priced ZTE Blade 10 Prime, which received a score of 5,098.
  • An internal battery of 3,000mAh should be plenty to get most people through the day using the A10e.

You should be able to add a few more hours if you spend your time more conservatively. When your battery is getting low, you may use the phone’s 15W quick charging feature, which is available with an extra adaptor.

Software

The Galaxy A10e comes pre-installed with Android 10 and Samsung’s proprietary user interface. When compared to other manufacturers, Samsung’s approach to Android is sleek, but it is also heavy-handed. Everything, from the notifications bar to the settings menu, is a little different this time around. It’s not an awful experience; it’s simply a divergence from the default Android experience. See how we put phones through their paces. The unlocked version of the A10e has Samsung’s suite of productivity software; nevertheless, we believe Google’s applications are better developed and provide greater flexibility if you decide to move to a different phone in the future.

It’s a relief that virtually all of the programs can be removed, but it’s discouraging to see such a large amount of unnecessary software.

Conclusions

The Samsung Galaxy A10e is a visually appealing phone, but it falls short when it comes to the fundamentals. Alternatively, you can get the Moto G7 Power for the same price, which outperforms the A10e in nearly every aspect, from performance to battery life. And if you’re ready to pay a little more, the newMoto G Power($250) is an excellent step forward from the previous model and the greatest budget-friendly phone available right now on the market.

The Bottom Line

The most cost-effective The Samsung Galaxy A10e has a nice design, but it falls behind other low-cost Android phones in a lot of important areas as well. strong>Race to 5G/strong> Subscribe to our newsletter to have our most recent mobile technology news sent directly to your inbox. , first published at: 2021-09-30T21:18:21.000000Z, published at: 2021-09-30T21:18:21.000000Z, last published at: 2021-09-30T21:18:030000000Z, created at:null, updated at: 2021-09-30T21:18:21.000000Z”

Samsung Galaxy A10e review: This $180 phone is still a good buy

The introduction of new cellphones in the United States occurs at such a rapid pace that it might be difficult to keep up with them all. Some smartphones, such as the Galaxy A10e, which was introduced late last year and is currently available for roughly $180, naturally slide between the gaps in news coverage and reviews. Although it’s no longer among the best-selling unlocked phones in the United States (it’s still #4 on Amazon at the time of writing), we felt it was a good time to give it a thorough review while it was still available.

THE GOOD

Screen It’s only 720p, but it’s good enough for a budget phone.
Connectivity It’s nice to see USB Type-C, a headphone jack, and microSD support.

THE NOT SO GOOD

Camera It’s not good.
Missing features Even compared to other ~$200 phones, no fingerprint sensor and no NFC are letdowns.

Design, hardware, what’s in the box

The Galaxy A10e is an inexpensive Android smartphone that borrows design ideas from other similarly priced Android devices. The plastic casing has a glossy sheen, which is supposed to mimic the look and feel of glass, but it ends up being disgusting to touch after collecting dirt and smudges – matte plastic would have been a better choice. IPS display with a resolution of 720 x 1560 pixels and a notch at the top-center, the screen is 5.83 inches in diagonal width. Coming from a OnePlus 7 Pro, I enjoy how much simpler it is for me to operate this phone with one hand than it was with my previous phone.

  1. I’m not very particular when it comes to display panels, but the one on the A10e appears to be satisfactory, with vibrant colors and good contrast.
  2. You’ll also find a single speaker, a USB Type-C connector, and a headphone jack on the phone’s bottom panel, which isn’t particularly noteworthy for a phone in the $200 price bracket.
  3. The Galaxy A10e (on the left) and the OnePlus 7 Pro (on the right) (right) The volume rocker and power button are located on the right side of the device.
  4. Even though you’d probably become accustomed to it within a few weeks, the sensation is irritating.
  5. Keep in mind, however, that because Samsung has disabled adoptable storage support, you will be able to utilize the microSD card just for file and media storage, not for other purposes.
  6. Even while it’s rather normal for US phones in this price bracket to be devoid of NFC functionality, the absence of a fingerprint reader is a bit unusual.

Two new Motorola smartphones, the $9.99 Moto G Fast and the $9.99 Moto E, are now available, both of which have fingerprint sensors. In the box, you’ll get the phone, a USB Type-C cord, and a wall charger with a 5V/1.55A output.

Software, performance, battery

The Samsung Galaxy A10e is equipped with One UI 1.1, which is the company’s version of Android 9 Pie. In other words, the software experience is quite comparable to that of Samsung’s top Galaxy S and Note smartphones, with the exception of functions that are dependent on specialized hardware. Although there is no Android 10 update available at this time, certain overseas models have already gotten the update. As a result, I was pleased to discover that my device has been upgraded to the May 2020 security patch level, indicating that Samsung has kept up with upgrades since the phone’s introduction – something that isn’t extremely typical with inexpensive phones in the United States these days.

The Galaxy A10e is equipped with an Exynos 7884B processor, which performs on par with a Snapdragon 632 in terms of benchmarks.

Given the low-power processor and large 3,000mAh battery, it’s certainly not a surprise that the Galaxy A10e’s battery life is outstanding, but I was nonetheless delighted.

Everyone’s battery life will be different, but I found that the Galaxy A10e provided roughly the same amount of time as my OnePlus 7 Pro in terms of longevity.

Camera samples

With only an 8MP rear camera, the Galaxy A10e isn’t very impressive in terms of quality. In order to capture sharp, detailed images, there is insufficient resolution, and Samsung’s post-processing routines frequently increase the color saturation to unrealistic extremes. The front-facing camera, on the other hand, is enough for video conversations. Poor camera performance is to be anticipated with phones in this cheap bracket, but our tests revealed that the Moto G7 phone from last year was capable of taking clearer photographs in most situations.

Should you buy it? Rating 7.5/10

Maybe. Because of its reduced physical size, long battery life, and lightweight design, the Galaxy A10e was a pleasure to work with. The software experience is remarkably similar to that of Samsung’s $1,000+ flagship smartphones, and overall performance was satisfactory on our test devices. It also works with all major US carriers, which is something that Nokia’s cheap phones do not have access to. Some consumers, however, may find the lack of NFC support and the absence of a fingerprint sensor to be deal-breakers.

Aside from that, the Galaxy A10e has a really mediocre camera, but you won’t find anything considerably better from the competition at this price point. If any of the following apply:

  • A Galaxy phone is something you desire, but your budget is roughly $200
  • Your top considerations are the performance of your hardware and software, as well as battery life.

If any of the following apply, don’t buy it:

  • You have a large number of photographs
  • You’ll need NFC support or a fingerprint scanner to complete the task.

Samsung Galaxy A10e (S102DL) Review

The Samsung Galaxy A10e (S102DL) review delves into the phone’s features, as well as its advantages and disadvantages. Everything to think about before making the decision to get one. The Samsung Galaxy A10e will be available on the global market in the first quarter of 2019. Several improvements over Samsung’s previous Galaxy A series are included in this model’s release. The edge-to-edge display, the latest Android 9.0 operating system, and the long-lasting battery are just a few of the noteworthy features.

Samsung introduces the Galaxy A10e, which targets consumers on a tight budget.

It is the subject of this Samsung Galaxy A10e review to determine if the phone is worth the money that must be spent in order to obtain one.

Key Specs

The following are the specs for the Samsung Galaxy A10e:

  • In terms of size and weight, the device is 147.3 grams and measures 147.3 by 69.6 by 8.4 millimeters. The operating system is Android 9, and the screen is 5.83 inches with a resolution of 720 by 1560 pixels. The processor is a Samsung Exynos 7884 with a 1.6 Ghz Octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and a 3,000mAh non-removable battery. The rear camera has an 8-megapixel resolution, while the front camera has a 5-megapixel resolution.

Design

The first thing we noticed about the design of the Samsung Galaxy A10e is that it is in keeping with the current fashion. It boasts a full-screen view, similar like many other smartphones that have been introduced recently. In two places, the whole screen does leave a tiny amount of space: the top portion, which contains the front camera, and the bottom portion, which has a small bezel. The margins are still clearly visible. Despite the fact that Samsung built it to be as small as possible, there is still a silvery streak along the borders.

  • It is lightweight, robust, and attractive in appearance.
  • At this budget range, the use of a plastic body is reasonable.
  • This is especially true given the fact that the phone is wonderfully built with minimum clutter, both on the front and on the rear.
  • On the rear of the phone, there is simply the camera and the Samsung branding.
  • Unfortunately, there isn’t a fingerprint sensor at this location.
  • The speakers are situated at the bottom and the top of the structure.
  • Although it appears to be busy, Samsung has managed to arrange everything in a non-obtrusive manner despite its size.

Display

Samsung has chosen that the A10e display will be the primary selling point of this device. The display has a screen that is almost 6 inches in size, or to be more precise, 5.83 inches in size. Because of the large display of the A10e, there is more area for app browsing and watching. It does, however, imply that you will occasionally have to use both hands to operate it. PLS is the type of display used (Plane to Line Switching). When compared to an IPS panel, a PLS screen has a number of advantages, including greater brightness and improved viewing angles.

  1. Will it be able to outperform a display that uses AMOLED technology?
  2. Even the most costly varieties of screens perform far better than A10e’s PLS.
  3. The screen has a resolution of 720 x 1560 pixels, which indicates that it is an HD screen.
  4. It is reasonable to believe that you will receive precisely what you paid for given the price you pay for this phone.
  5. When watching videos, the A10e, like many other phones nowadays, allows you to see them in full screen.

For others, the notch can be a jarring experience that is highly visible to the naked eye. Not only does the A10e suffer from this issue, but so do other phones that feature a notch. It’s a little point to consider before making a purchase.

Camera

When we looked at the technical specifications for the A10e’s camera, we didn’t see anything particularly noteworthy. The camera has an 8-megapixel back camera, which we believe may have been a little higher resolution in our opinion. There is also an LED flash, which is now a standard feature on most smartphones. The front-facing camera, on the other hand, has a resolution of 5 MP. In fact, the software that powers A10e’s cameras is what makes them so special. The A10e’s cameras benefit immensely from Samsung software, despite the fact that they are nothing extraordinary.

  • There is also a Pro mode, which allows users to manually adjust various parameters, such as the ISO, exposure, and white balance, if they so like.
  • To make photographing easier, users may take use of a number of different photography methods.
  • The Galaxy A10e’s back camera is capable of recording videos in high definition.
  • Another advantage of this phone’s camera is that it can take pictures in low light.
  • This implies that the ability to record smooth footage is highly dependent on how stable you can be when filming.
  • Given the price, though, this is not surprising.

Storage

The Samsung Galaxy A10e has 32 GB of internal storage, which is sufficient for storing a large number of data. However, we can see that all of the available capacity is readily filled in a short period of time, especially if you shoot a large number of high-quality photographs and movies. Furthermore, the 32 GB shown is not the actual storage space. After system files have filled up most of the space, users are left with with about 20 GB. There is external storage accessible. You have the option of adding up to 512 GB of storage, which is a significant amount of space.

However, because an SD card is not included in the package, you will undoubtedly end up spending additional money.

Performance

The Exynos 7884 CPU included in the Samsung Galaxy A10e is a powerful performer. The CPU is an octa-core processor with a processing speed of 1.6 GHz and eight threads. The phone also has a graphics processing unit (GPU), which is the Mali G71. A10e is equipped with all it requires to do day-to-day chores. Because of the GPU, it is also capable of doing some intensive activities like as gaming. The fact that the RAM is just 2 GB might have an impact on performance at times. 2 GB is a standard amount of storage for phones at this price level, so this didn’t come as a huge surprise.

  • If you often edit photos or videos on your phone while simultaneously running many apps in the background, this phone may be unable to keep up with you.
  • The operating system offers a more efficient overall performance on your phone than the previous one.
  • As a result, there is more free space in RAM and the battery lasts longer.
  • There is an Easy Mode that makes the text and icons larger to read.
  • Because the Galaxy A10e supports multitasking, you may run two apps at the same time on the same screen.
  • When we were going from one app to another, we had a generally positive initial impression.
  • Gmail, Drive, and Maps are just a few of the popular Google applications that are accessible.
  • However, this does not rule out the possibility of the phone including unique security mechanisms.
  • The biometric technology is used in this functionality.
  • This is a technology that is always evolving.
  • Examples include a well-lit environment, no glasses on the face, and making sure the camera is in good working order.

In terms of various features, the Samsung Galaxy A10e has typical sensors such as an accelerometer and a proximity sensor, among others. People who require further assistance might benefit from features such as hearing aid compatibility.

Connectivity

The Galaxy A10e operates on the GSM and CDMA bands, with support for 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE networks. Because today’s phones are equipped with Wi-Fi, this feature is available. Depending on the carrier, this phone may be able to make Wi-Fi calls and use a hotspot for internet access. Bluetooth is also included, and this phone is equipped with the most recent version of the technology, Bluetooth v5.0. The GPS position locating capabilities of the Samsung Galaxy A10e are rather good. It recognizes the position instantly and without any delay on the app’s end.

NFC is a feature that this phone does not have.

Battery

The battery of the A10e is marketed by Samsung as being long-lasting. The battery has a capacity of 3000 milliamp-hours. It performs above average when compared to other phones in the same price range. It should be noted, however, that the A10e’s screen consumes a significant amount of power, so be mindful of this. As a result, when compared to comparable phones with a lower battery and a smaller screen, the performance is mediocre to below average. Using the A10e’s battery under regular conditions, it can survive the entire day, but it will struggle to make it until the next day.

The battery in the A10 is a non-removable kind, according to the manufacturer.

Wrap-up

To sum up our Samsung Galaxy A10e review, we believe that this phone is an excellent choice for certain people in its price range. Those individuals are purchasers who have a restricted budget but a strong need for high-quality products. This phone, on the other hand, is not recommended for those who enjoy capturing high-quality photographs. The quality of the camera is simply mediocre. Some individuals do not feel comfortable in their own homes without a fingerprint lock, thus the A10e is not for them.

For only $159.99, you can receive a large HD screen, the latest Android operating system, and a powerful CPU.

Pros:

  • 1.6GHz CPU
  • Android 9.0 Pie
  • Large Full HD display
  • USB Type-C connector.

Cons:

  • The camera might be improved
  • RAM memory capacity that is average
  • There is no fingerprint sensor.
