Force turn off Galaxy S10
As mentioned in the previous part, we can no longer switch off a Samsung flagship by pressing the volume down key and the power button simultaneously. Instead of taking you to the recovery screen, doing so now causes your phone to reset. The first step in turning off your phone is to put it into restart mode. To do so, simultaneously press and hold the volume down and power buttons for 7 to 10 seconds. You’ll notice a slight vibration and the phone starting up. Release the volume down button and push the volume up button just before it happens.
The recovery screen should now appear in front of you.
Force turn off Galaxy Note 10
You’ll need to use the power button to complete your choices because the Galaxy Note 10 lacks a dedicated Bixby key, which is understandable. First, press and hold the volume down and power buttons for 7 to 10 seconds to force your phone to restart. Release the volume down button and switch to the volume up while leaving the power button down once you sense a slight vibration. Your phone should now enter recovery mode. Use the power key to confirm your option of ‘Power off’ at the bottom of the list.Related:How To Keep App Data When Uninstalling an App on Android
Force turn off S20 and Note 20
We’ve opted to lump the two current-generation flagships together because the method is identical to the one described above. Because certain One UI devices don’t have a Bixby button, you’ll have to confirm your choice with the power button. Hold the volume down and power key simultaneously for 7 to 10 seconds, or until you sense a vibration. Switch the volume down key to the volume up key and hold the power button down until your phone enters recovery mode. To navigate, use the two volume keys; to confirm your option, slide down to ‘Power off’ and tap the power key.

How to Shut Down & Restart Your Galaxy S20
On your Galaxy S20, pushing and holding the side key wakes or locks the smartphone, while pressing and holding the button engages Bixby. So “side key” is a good moniker for it Because it’s no longer a power button. That begs the question: how do you get this thing going again? So, here’s how it went down. Samsung removed the Bixby button from phones like the Galaxy S8 and S9 after receiving several complaints about it. They still want people to use their digital assistant, so they made it a function of the power button.

How to turn off or restart your Samsung Galaxy S20
Turning off or restarting your Samsung Galaxy S20, unlike many other Android devices, is not as simple as it appears. You’ll need to remap the button or attempt an other approach. Here are four options for turning off or restarting your phone.
To get to the power menu on your Samsung Galaxy S20, press and hold the side and volume down keys at the same time for several seconds. Press the “Power off” or “Restart” button when the power menu opens. Press and hold the Side button for a few seconds until the Samsung logo displays on the screen if you want to switch off your Galaxy S20. In less than a minute, your smartphone will be completely functional.
Reprogram the behavior of the side key
Holding down the side and volume down keys simultaneously for many seconds is the quickest way to access the Samsung Galaxy S20’s power menu. Press the “Power off” or “Restart” button to bring up the power menu. If you want to turn your Galaxy S20 off, press and hold the Side button for a few seconds until you see the Samsung logo on the screen. It will take around a minute for your smartphone to completely boot.
From the smartphone’s fast panel, Samsung also provides a shortcut to the power menu. To get to the shortcut, pull down the notification panel from the top of the Galaxy S20 screen. Select the “Power” symbol in the top right corner from there. To accomplish the desired operation, hit the “Power off” or “Restart” button when the power menu displays. Press and hold the Side button until you see the Samsung logo if you want to switch off your Galaxy S20. Wait 30-60 seconds for the phone to boot after you release the key.
Use Bixby to turn off or restart your phone
This is because you can switch off and restart your Galaxy S20 using Samsung’s built-in voice assistant, Bixby. Begin by turning on Bixby. Then, for a split second, tap and hold the Side key until the Bixby icon shows at the top of your screen. Alternatively, you may access the app drawer by swiping up from the home screen, then selecting the “Bixby” app to activate it. If you’ve launched the app, you may need to hit the Bixby symbol in the lower left corner to activate the voice assistant. By saying “Turn off my phone” or “Restart my phone,” you may now ask it to turn off or restart your phone.
